Tytoo Gardens

Hello and sorry for no posts lately! We have been having issues with the blog so will update you on the past week. We got to Tytoo last Tuesday and were meet by the 53 kids here. So much has happened here so I will give you a quick update:
-trip to the homeless shelter and are trying to rescue a malnourished little girl and take her to the orphanage
-Vi Bella: a work project in the community for women to help create jewelry from plastic bottles as well as sewing projects to sell. We helped move the sewing supplies from Tytoo to the Vi Bella community center to get some of the Tytoo girls started on a project
-a trip to the market
-Maria and Cazi's wedding: Maria works with Frank and Esther at Tytoo and got married on Saturday. The wedding was held here at the orphanage and the kids had a blast with the dance party after!
-twins: last week a mom brought her two 4 month old babies to the clinic. They were extremely malnourished and sick. Esther sent them to a hospital and they came back the next day because the hospital told them they couldn't help them. She moved in with her babies and 2 year old so she could get constant care. One of the babies we put a feeding tube in because she wouldn't eat because she was so short of breath. She ended up passing away the night of the wedding. The next day the mother left with her other two children saying she would return but has not. It has been a difficult situation that we are continuing to pray for in hopes that the mother would get the help she needs for her children and herself.
-clinic: we observed Frank and Esther working in their clinic here at Tytoo. Today there were 13 patients. The first man was the worst with an infected thumb that was huge from a fish bone cut. We  had to leave the room because we were a little queazy....they had to cut open his thumb to get the infection out....yuck! He felt way better after though =) We also had some pregnant women come in and were able to listen to the babies heartbeat which was amazing. We ended up having another lady come in with her week old baby later on and the baby was extremely sick. Esther explained to us how the baby had jaundice, possibly liver failure and had a dark ring around his mouth which showed he had a difficult time with oxygen intake. They were not capable to treat him so sent the mother and baby to a hospital
That is a rough update of the past week here. We have been able to love on the children and learn a few random Creole words. We would love continued prayers for health, the kids here, and the people that come here to the clinic and Frank and Esther and their family. We are having a wonderful time and will update you again soon!
Orevwa!

  1. Thanks for the update Allison! So have you gotten a chance to work in the actual hospital there? That sounds so cool! Still praying for you. Enjoy the rest of your time in Haiti! See you soon :)
